There are several pleasures of volunteering at the RSG: being surrounded by wonderful art, discovering new pieces, as well as rediscovering a piece. For me there is also the enjoyment I get from imagining a piece as an album, or book cover.
It is fun to imagine what musical or literary genre a piece might go well with. One might go very well with poems or stories. Another might set the mood for a rock opera album, or perhaps for a collection of classical, jazz, or blues standards. A piece could even be included in a coffee table tome on Portland, or Europe, or animals. Here are some of the pieces I have imagined gracing an album or book cover.
