This upcoming eclipse has got me thinking about all of the stories we’ve written in the sky. The dragon that eats the sun, the centaur hit by a poison arrow. Ancient people looked up and filled the unknown with the fantastic and the familiar: fish and goats, maidens and monsters. We humans love to read into things. Whether it’s tea leaves at the bottom of your cup or the lines etched into your hands, the world seems to be speaking to us, if only we can learn the language.
