Last Call!!

August 30, 2018

This post contributed by Tianna Lewis.

If you couldn’t join us on August 25th for opening night of The Staff Show, you missed out on a fabulous evening! We had an amazing time connecting with the Portland Art Museum’s staff, as well as friends, family and fellow art lovers.

But don’t fret. If you missed out there is still a chance for you to meet the staff and view their work. Friday night on August 31st during the Museum’s $5 After 5PM festivities, staff members will be hosting various events throughout the galleries:

Gretchen Van Lente from Security will be facilitating an evening of readings. Visitors and staff may join in and read modern and renaissance sonnets in the European galleries.

Emmi Greer from Museum Grounds Cafe will be leading a ekphrastic poetry workshop with visitors in response to works in the contemporary galleries.

Allison Rice from Guest Services will be giving a gallery talk centered on the Palmyran reliefs in the antiquities room.

Miro Lovric from Security will be leading a 90 minute drawing class for adults. This program will be preregistered with a cap of 12 participants.

Adrian Poole from Security will be doing an artist demonstration in the galleries and will be drawing portraits of visitors.

And of course, you can come by the gallery and see the show before it comes down!

Hope to see you there!

The Rental Sales Gallery, Portland Art Museum recognizes and honors the Indigenous peoples of this region on whose ancestral lands the museum now stands.

These include the Willamette Tumwater, Clackamas, Kathlemet, Molalla, Multnomah and Watlala Chinook Peoples and the Tualatin Kalapuya who today are part of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, and many other Native communities who made their homes along the Columbia River.

We also want to recognize that Portland today is a community of many diverse Native peoples who continue to live and work here. We respectfully acknowledge and honor all Indigenous communities - past, present, future - and are grateful for their ongoing and vibrant presence.
